Build Your Health & Fat Loss Strategy Around Things You Actually Enjoy - #48

One thing I’ve noticed with a good chunk of our highest performing clients: They have hobbies & interests that are more fun when they’re more fit.

I recently had a conversation with one of our newest HAX CLUB clients (apply here if you’d like to join). He’s wanting to drop about 30lbs, but hasn’t been able to figure out how to stay consistent. He’s been on again, off again for decades at this point.

But when he’s on, there’s always a consistent theme:

It’s to prepare for active hobbies he loves: Skiing, hiking & hunting.

Every time he’s been dialed in with his diet & his training in the past, it’s been because of ski or hunting trip coming up over the horizon.

So the answer was simple: Instead of our training program being focused on weight loss, it’s gonna be focused on helping him improve his cardiovascular strength for the long hikes in the mountains.

Or to improve lower body & core strength for those epic ski sessions.

And as a result, we’ll EASILY strip off that 30lbs, but we’ll do it in a way that he enjoys, and that isn’t revolved around what the scale says every day.

You can take the same approach if you love basketball (like me.) Or if you love walking through the jungles of Costa Rica. Or if you love running marathons for good causes. Or if you love to go dancing w/ your spouse.

Literally, whatever active hobbies & passions you have, you can train to become GREAT at those, and get your body in great shape as a byproduct of focusing on your passions.

Kevin was a perfect example of this. He was in ju jitsu, but felt like carrying the ‘spare keg’ and lack of muscle was holding him back for being as good as he wanted to be.

So we implemented a strength program to help him build the muscle he needed on the mat, and a nutrition & cardio regimen to help him melt stubborn fat & get lighter on his feet.

He dramatically improved at a hobby he loved, stripped off 30lbs of body fat & revealed his abs all at the same time.

Had we not linked the two, I’m not sure he would have been as dialed in.

Life is meant to be fun. We need competition, challenges, something to push toward & improve at. Getting your body fit & healthy should feed directly into that - whatever it is for you.

Hope this was valuable, see you again next Sunday.

PS: If you have hobbies & interests that you KNOW you’d enjoy more, if you were in better shape physically, let’s chat.
